As curator, writer, art advisor, collector, and educator, Amelia Abdullahsani has 25 years of international experience in commercial art galleries and art institutions. She was the Founding Curator and Director of Lu Magnus, a contemporary art gallery in the Lower East Side, New York (2010-2013). She has curated critically acclaimed exhibitions that were reviewed in The New York Times, Artforum, Art in America, Vogue, and The Village Voice, to name a few. Most recently, she curated Bus.Stop.Art., an island-wide public art project commissioned by the National Arts Council as part of Singapore Art Week 2021.
After living in New York for almost two decades, Amelia is now based in Asia, where she brokers sales of blue-chip artworks for acquisitions and asset-class investment portfolios. She recently launched and directs an art investment fund. Amelia combines her love of art and writing by frequently contributing to art magazines and periodicals, writing about the international art market and the burgeoning Southeast Asian art scene. In addition to lecturing in art educational programmes, Amelia is a regular guest speaker in the topic of the art market, art collecting, and art investments.
Amelia holds a BA in Art History from Columbia University in the City of New York, and a MA in Museum Studies and Curatorial Practices from the School of Art, Design and Media, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Her MA thesis explored the curatorial considerations in commercial spaces such as commercial art galleries and art fairs.
Amelia is currently writing a novel about the art world.
